From beautiful New York we are joined by Sylvia Pilawa.  Syliva is a stay at home mother who runs an awesome style and lifestyle site and Instagram.  She’s an awesome read and has great styles you should definitely check out!

When did you launch Sylvia and what made you decide to get into fashion blogging?

I actually launched exactly a year ago! I can’t believe I am at my one year anniversary!  I have always had a love for fashion but was always unsure of what it was that I wanted to do. After the birth of my son I became a stay at home mom and found myself having a lot of time on my hands. I have always been a creative and loved to express myself through the arts. A fashion blog was an outlet for me!

How would you describe your personal style?

I  guess if I had to describe it I’d say “casual cool” meaning, I like to keep it casual, it’s rare you will find me in a dress (my toddler son has me at the playground most days). I am all about a denim and cute blouse or tee! I’ll either dress it up with heels, wedges or dress it down with a cute pair of sneakers. “cool” meaning I gravitate and am inspired by what is trending and I always like to put my own take on it!

How have you developed your style over time?

In my early twenties I had my style all wrong, I was constantly borrowing clothes from roommates and always felt really uncomfortable in whatever I was in. I never stayed true to who I was, never wore what I wanted to or what made me feel comfortable! Through time I realized that and that is when my style was developed. I was able to try out different trends and looks and there were things I saw that work and some things that didn’t. But I was always being true to myself.

How do you stay current with what’s new or in style at the moment?

I’d love to say that I sit here and study trends but I don’t! I see what companies are releasing and just shop the new “trends” if it sticks as a trend great, if it doesn’t that’s okay because I love it and way.  The Instagram community is amazing and I like to think that we all sort of influence each other and start our own “trends” which then influence regular consumer.

Tell me about one item that you bought this year that you just can’t live without?

I wish I could say there is one item that I bought this year that I can’t live without but it’s about 10 items and they’re all shoes (insert hiding emoji face here) I have really developed a major shoe obsession over the last few months and they are all so amazing, especially in the last season! I love all the cute bow mules and knotted sandals, they all have some fun detail to them!

What’s most important to you in choosing an outfit for the day?

It’s all about comfort and something that makes the outfit pop.  Like I mentioned, I’ve got a little one running around so some days I need to keep it casual and feel comfortable white running errands and hitting the park. If I’m wearing a tee and jeans, I like to make sure these simple pieces have elements that make it stand out, like peplum details or cold shoulder sleeve! I always like to dress it up with a fun shoe as well.

What is your favorite social platform and why?

I am a huge fan of Instagram and Pinterest. Both platforms can really get your stuff noticed. I’ve always used Pinterest for inspiration and recently started using it for my blog which has brought traffic to both my blog and Instagram!

What are your 5 essential travel items?

Well first and foremost, my number one has got to be my cameras to photograph images for my blog and Instagram and obviously to collect memories! A cute bathing suit since I’m probably traveling somewhere beachy! An assortment of cute shoes. My moisturizer and make up. Last, my charger because my phone is always low on battery or dying!

What are your goals for 2017?

I want to keep growing my blog and followers and inspiring my followers, that is most important. I hope that 2017 brings great partnerships and work opportunities! Year one has been a great one so I am excited to see what’s in store for the next year.
