Straight from Texas comes today’s expert chat with Sue from The Sue Style File (  Sue’s blog is a great opportunity to see fantastic styles year round for the entire family!  Having two of the cutest kids in the world certainly doesn’t hurt!  Be sure to read about her most essential wardrobe items, where she shops and the best part of living in Dallas!  Once you’re done reading don’t forget to follow her on Instagram (@thesuestylefile).

When you launched The Sue Style File, what was it like to take that leap and start your own blog?

It wasn’t a huge leap as I was already blogging prior to starting TheSueStyleFile for friends and family. It was an easy way for our family all over the country to see what was going on in our lives.

Have you always had a passion for style and fashion?

Fashion has always been my passion. I remember in elementary school looking up to Cindy Crawford and her fashion sense.  Throughout the years I’ve helped style my friend’s outfits, give them advice on pieces that fit their body type and even styled friends hair for special events. Multiple people kept encouraging me to start a fashion blog on what I was already wearing daily and my blog evolved from there.

How have you developed your style?

After I had my son over 5 years ago, my body changed so I revamped my wardrobe and new style as a mom. I started looking for pieces that I could mix and match into multiple outfits that showed my personality. I also try to find pieces that are not just this season’s trend, but will still be in style for multiple seasons.  I’m usually casual, but put together.

What is the one essential item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?

I would say I couldn’t live without my hats. I am a sucker for hats and I feel like it part of my style personality. I was diagnosed with melanoma a few years ago and ever since that scare, I try to stay covered. So the hats are not only part of my style, but they are functional as well.

What are some of the latest fashion trends you love?

I’m loving the leather leggings since you can dress them up or down. I also love the sweatshirt trend, chokers, bomber jackets and tennis shoes. As you can see I am typically casual and as a mom on the go, it’s nice to look good and be comfortable.

What are some the latest fashion trends you can NOT stand?

There’s not a fashion trend that stands out that I don’t like. I love that style can bring out your own personality so if there is a more edgy piece that I see, I know it can be styled for an edgier person.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

I don’t have a favorite place to shop as I usually search for certain pieces rather than stores. I’m all over the place from Nordstrom, TJMaxx, Lululemon, H&M, Amazon, ASOS, Dillards, Target and the list goes on.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Dallas?

I enjoy being outdoors, so I try to find any event in our town that the kids can be involved in as well. My favorite things to do in Dallas are going to the park, participating in color runs, the zoo, the Arboretum, and hanging out with my family in our back yard making s’mores and watching a movie together.

What advice would you give those other moms trying to balance it all?

The best advice I would give is to do the best you can each day and take time for yourself. I know it’s hard to squeeze in a few minutes for yourself, but I really think it’s important whether it be going for a quick run, taking a bath and relaxing or maybe even reading a book.  I feel I’m a better mom, parent and wife if I get a little exercise in.

What are your goals for the Sue Style File in 2017?

My goal for TheSueStyleFile for 2017 is to grow my Youtube channel to share tutorials for hairstyling and tips on whatever else I want to talk about that day.
