From Charlotte, NC to our pages!  Kristen Shaeffer took some time to speak with us recently and we couldn’t be happier!  Kristen’s a fashion and lifestyle blogger at Every Chic Way.  She lays out awesome fashion, travel and lifestyle tips.  She’s another awesome follow on Instagram!

What inspired you to start Every Chic Way?

I started Every Chic Way a little over two years ago. I had wanted to start a blog for quite some time but it took me some time to gain the confidence to officially start a blog. One day I realized that if I didn’t start it now I never would.

Have you always had a passion for style and fashion?

Fashion has always been a lifelong passion of mine. From a young age I always had my own style. I loved to accessorize and wear the latest trends. As I have grown my fashion has certainly evolved and I draw so much inspiration from designers, magazines and fellow bloggers! Now as an adult it has even developed into a love for interior design.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is feminine and classic. I like to dress based on my mood or the occasion. However, I would rather be overdressed then underdressed for any event. I love to wear flowy dresses or anything that has a little sparkle.

What are the trends that you are currently coveting?  Do you think you’ll love them next year?

I am obsessed with the trends for 2017! I can’t get enough of the gorgeous floral prints, stripes and statement earrings. I usually always wear high heels but I am loving mules and slides for spring. And of course, I am thrilled that pink is still on trend.

How do you avoid those awkward poses while shooting?

Unfortunately awkward poses are a part of the territory when it comes to blogging! I have learned a great deal about what works and what doesn’t work by learning from my mistakes. However, I have yet to have a shoot where I don’t have a few truly awkward poses or facial expressions in the mix! It is helpful to review your shots while you are shooting to make sure that the lighting, posing and location are working for the vision you have in mind.

What camera do you use, and what do you use to edit your photos?

I have an amazing photographer, Paige Winn, which I work with for my outfit pictures. However, for flatlays, home decor or in the moment shots, I will use my iPhone. Depending on the picture I will edit in VSCO or ColorStory.

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, what 5 things would you go and buy straight away?

Oh my goodness! That would be so hard! However, if I had to start my wardrobe from scratch I would have to buy:

A great pair of nude pumps because they go with everything.

A classic pair of jeans. I am obsessed with Paige Denim or Frame Denim.

A dress that would go from day to night.

A White v-neck tee

A Givenchy Antigona Bag. My mom gave me this bag for my birthday last year and now that I have one, I know I can’t live without it!

What’s a place you wish to visit?

I have been dying to visit Italy or London!

If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated fashion blogger, what would they be?

The best advice I could give to anyone new to blogging or someone who feels frustrated as a blogger would be to stay true to yourself. It is so easy to try and be what you believe your readers want you to be but if you don’t have a strong voice or show your point of view you aren’t going to be happy with your work. Also, I am a huge believer in quality over quantity when it comes to posting on social media. I would rather post one shot that I am proud of then a bunch of pictures that are only alright for the sake of posting. Blogging can be a true labor of love but if you are happy with what you are creating, it is all worth it in the end!
