The e-commerce site for Italian handmade luxury products Artemest, has raised $1.2M in Seed Funding to expand their presence in the US and UK.
Artemest is a fresh take on the e-commerce space featuring a collection of crafts, jewelry and art looking to keep centuries-old techniques alive. The site also offers a very cool content platform for users to explore the production and manufacturing process behind the products featured on the Artemest e-commerce platform.
The Milan based company launched in October 2015 by Ippolita Rostagno who has gained fame in the past for her jewelry brand IPPOLITA. Ippolita launched Artemest to help Italian artisans compete in the global marketplace.
The round was led by Italian Angels for Growth. Additional add on investors included a venture capital holding company called SharkBites as well as Alina Lundry and Kirstie Steiner. Marco De Guzzis of Italian Angels released the following statement, “We are proud to have invested in Artemest, the best bridge between Italian local excellence and the worldwide luxury market, which asks for intrinsic value and tradition. We are sure that Artemest is a really effective answer to this rising demand of the market” .
