The international men’s wear fair Pitti Uomo was briefly shut down today due to a bomb scare. The event which exhibits more than 1,200 collections and brings in over 20,000 buyers wraps its four-day event this Friday.
Security for the event noticed a small unattended suitcase near the ticket office and quickly alerted the Italian police. The police quickly evacuated the bustling show to allow bomb disposal experts to assess the situation. Shortly after arrival the unit destroyed the item which was found to contain only papers.
Luke Leitch of Vogue Runway took to twitter and fired off this gem shortly after the disposal unit destroyed the bag, “Moral of this bomb scare: never leave your manbag unattended at #pittiuomo because it will be blown up. Bravo to the brave officer who suited up and took the risk”.
We will bring you updates from the actual event this week. Hopefully we don’t have any more threatening murses to contend with!
