Michèle Krüsi with The Fashion Fraction was generous enough to give us some time all the way from beautiful Zurich, Switzerland!  Michèle has lived in Switzerland her whole life and her blog captures her amazing style as well as great lifestyle and beauty tips.  Please be sure to check it out and visit her Instagram as well!

When did you launch The Fashion Fraction and what made you decide to start the blog?
I started blogging back in 2010, so I’d actually call myself a blogging grandma 😉 However The Fashion Fraction was created only in 2014.  The reason to launch my first blog were people on lookbook.nu who loved the styles I shared on the platform and therefor asked for a blog.

What has changed most about fashion blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
It all started as a leisure-time activity but the whole blogging scene became super professional and commercial within only a few years. It’s crazy to see how fast bloggers took over the fashion world, but I think it’s a very good thing to have some new, fresh players in the game.

How would you describe your personal style?
Always a hard question honestly! I think I’m very versatile as I wear girly stuff but also cool band shirts, biker jackets, etc. But I think one thing which is very typical for me are unusual combinations meaning a skirt of pants or over a dress for examples and combos of pieces of clothing you wouldn’t really think they go well together (like different prints) but they actually do.

What are the trends that you are currently coveting? Do you think you’ll love them next year?
Layering is my thing. I’m glad winter is back. Also I still love to wear my over the knee boots which I already wore very often the past year and probably will still wear them next year 😉 I’m a faithful person when it comes to pieces or trends I love – no matter if they’re already “out of trend” if I like them, I will continue wearing them 😉

You have over 90k Instagram followers. That’s amazing! How long did it take you to grow your following?
I have my Instagram account since only 1.5 years as I always wanted to focus on the blog only but in the end I realized the growing importance of Instagram, started my own account and well, I absolutely LOVE it.

Who is your favorite brand/designer? Do you own any of their designs?
I have many favorites.

What is your favorite thing to do in Zurich?
In summer I just love to hang around at the lake with an ice cream

If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated fashion blogger, what would they be?
Know the difference between the digital and the real life! I know how hard it can be to see all those “perfect lifes” on Instagram and to see other bloggers having amazing collaborations or more followers than you. But it’s very important to keep in mind that this is not a REAL life, it’s all online, many things might not even be real. Focus on yourself and compare yourself with yourself (instead of others) to grow bigger.

Where do you hope fashion blogging will take you in the future?
Honestly, I have no idea. I never thought I will ever have such a big audience reading what I do and looking at my outfits and travels, neither I thought I would ever earn money. So I’m open for some more surprises in the future.

What are your goals for The Fashion Fraction in 2017?
Traveling more often – which is difficult though because I study beside working as an art director in an agency and blogging.
