Chat with Anna Dille Cobbs

Straight from the heart of Texas!  Recently we had the pleasure of speaking with Anna Dille Cobbs.  She maintains the phenomenal travel and lifestyle blog at  In addition to seeing her great trends you’ll have a chance to see her two beautiful girls!  Enjoy reading about how she named her blog, how she would describe her style and some of her favorite fashion trends.

Love the name of your site! How’d you come up with the name Fleurdille?

The name of my blog is a combination of one of my favorite flowers, a fleur-de-lis, and my maiden name, “Dille,” which sounds like “Dilly.”

When you launched Fleurdille, what was it like to take that leap and start your own blog?

I started my blog a little over two years ago simply as a way to express my love for fashion and to share my life as a new mom. It began as a hobby and over a year ago I made the decision to turn my blog into a business. From the beginning I made a promise to myself that if my blog ever got in the way of my time with my family and my girls that I would quit. My most important job is being a mother to my two girls, so that will always come first. Fortunately, I have been able to find a good balance of being present with my girls and finding time to pour energy and creativity into my blog. I have loved every second of blogging and hope that my love for Fleurdille will only continue to grow with time.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as “everyday feminine.” I naturally gravitate toward pinks and white, toward ruffles and flirty hemlines, lace, and big bows. If I had my choice, I would wear a dress or a skirt every single day. However, I am a mom to two young girls – age 1 and 3, so I’ve been learning how to adapt my feminine style to meet the practical needs of running around with two toddlers or playing in the park and crawling on my knees. So, you can almost always find me in a dress, a skirt, or denim paired with a feminine top.

What are some of the latest fashion trends you love?

There are actually a lot of trends I love right now. I love the off-the-shoulder trend as I think it highlights one of the prettiest parts of a woman’s body – her neck and clavicle. One of my favorite colors is pink, so I have been taking full advantage of the blush trend. I also love the flare sleeve trend and velvet trend.

What are some the latest fashion trends you can NOT stand? I actually don’t think there is a trend that I cannot stand right now, but the one trend that I feel doesn’t really fit my personal style is platform shoes. I think they’re cute and so many women pull them off, but I just feel ridiculous when I wear them.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

My favorite stores to shop at are Nordstrom, LOFT, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and a local boutique called Shop September. All of these stores are reasonably priced, have quality, on-trend clothing, and great customer service!

If you could give one piece of style advice, what would it be?

If I could give one piece of style advice it would be to know your true style. It is so easy to compare yourself to others or to try to be someone else, but I promise you will look and feel the best when you are being uniquely you! So, I always tell people to know your personal style and then learn to adapt the latest trends to fit your style.

How long did it take you to grow your following?

My following has been steadily growing since I really started pouring into my blog. I try not to compare my growth to others and just rejoice in the fact that my followers are loyal, interactive, and they enjoy being part of my journey with Fleurdille. I am so grateful for each and every person that follows along!

What advice would you give those moms trying to balance it all? Oh, man, what a question. I would just say to make priorities and don’t compromise on those most important to you. I would also say to be organized – that helps a lot. Oh, and wine. Wine helps, too.

In all seriousness though, I wear many hats throughout the week – mom, wife, friend, speech therapist, volunteer, blogger, and being organized is the only way I’m able to function. My family is my top priority, so that comes before everything else I do without exception. I’ve also learned as a young mom to give myself grace. There will be days that I don’t “mom” perfectly, or I don’t get a blog post out in time, but that’s okay. At the end of the day, if I’m loving kids and husband well, walking daily with the Lord, and giving the day my best effort, it’s a win for me even if I didn’t get any laundry done. 😉

What’s your favorite thing to do in Dallas?

This is actually a hard question because I love being a tourist in my own city. I think my favorite thing to do with my girls is to go to the Dallas Arboretum whether it’s for a picnic lunch or to play in their children’s area. My favorite thing to do with my husband or with friends would be to explore the Bishop Arts District. There are so many shops there and such positive energy. My favorite restaurant, Bolsa, is also in the Bishop Arts District.
