Khloe Kardashian probably had big dreams when she launched her Good American denim line, but she might not have predicted that she would have the largest denim launch of all time. She did, however, manage to take that title when the denim line made one million dollars in its very first day.
Khloe created the line alongside designer Emma Grede, and currently the pieces are priced between $149 and $215. She said that she was inspired to create the line after she lost weight and didn’t feel super confident about going out and finding the right denim to fit her body type.
“I was what I would say is average size at the time. I was very proud of who I was, and I felt, like, so shamed at the time — to go into boutiques or to go denim shopping. It was something that was super hard for me. I remember the chubby girl in me, and I’m fighting for my chubby self. It wasn’t about having a new denim line. [Creating this collection] was about doing something that empowers other women, and something that is really going to break down barriers.”
That’s something that a lot of women can relate to, since we all have such different bodies and denim doesn’t always have a lot of give to create the right fit.
There are currently three different styles of denim available in the sizes 00-24; skinny, boyfriend, and high-rise. In the future they plan to add in other items like denim jackets, denim skirts, and denim shorts.
The instant popularity of the line has seemed to speak for itself, and Khloe seems rightly proud with the interest.
“What’s really encouraging is the customer response. When people try the jeans they fall in love. The reviews speak for themselves and that’s something I am really proud of. We’ve created a product that works on a girl who’s size 00 and looks equally great in a size 24.”
