Sin City here we come!  Coming to us from warm and sunny Las Vegas, NV is Lindsey Simon.  Lindsey writes a great blog at where she covers fashion and lifestyle (be sure to check out the gift guides!).  Her Instagram (@thenomisniche) is a great sample of her wonderful fashion taste as well!  Lindsey was gracious enough to answer a few questions and even let us take a peak inside her purse to see what must-have’s there are!

When did you decide to become a beauty and fashion blogger?

I decided back in 2014 that I wanted to start The Nomis Niche. I had been looking at a bunch of other blogs that I loved and thought, “why not start my own?!” Picking a name was the most difficult part. I chose Nomis because it’s my last name (Simon) spelled backwards. Having a full time job where I worked a lot of overtime, it was difficult to keep up with it. So even though I started my blog in 2014, I consider 2016 to be the REAL start of it all. It was my New Year’s Resolution! I recently got into blogging about beauty because I was getting a lot of questions about what makeup I was wearing. I’m excited to do more makeup tutorials in the future!

Have you always had a passion for style and fashion?

When I was younger I was a hard-core tomboy. I’m talking jeans with a t-shirt and some running shoes. I was more concerned with playing wiffle ball and street hockey with the neighborhood kids than what I was going to wear that day. I started to like fashion more during High School, but didn’t find my true personal style until college. I started experimenting with different looks and became obsessed. It was heels and lipstick from that point forward 😉

Who really inspires you and why?

I love ladies like Alexa Chung, Kate Hudson and Olivia Palermo. They obviously have fun with their outfits and always look so pulled together.  I like to mix feminine and edgy styles together and I feel like Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo are masters at that! In the summer my inner hippie-child comes out which is why I admire Kate Hudson. She’s able to take bohemian pieces and make them look so incredibly chic.  My mom is also a great inspiration. She always looks so classy and confident. Plus, her shoe collection is to die for! I only wish we wore the same size.

What are some of the latest fashion trends you love?

All of them!  Velvet, ruffles, sock boots, metallic skirts, off the shoulder tops, bell sleeves, slip dresses… I don’t discriminate. The key is to style trendy pieces in a way that makes you feel comfortable.  If I put an outfit on and it doesn’t feel like “me” – I change immediately. If you’re comfortable you’re confident, and confidence is key.

What are some the latest fashion trends you can NOT stand?

I wouldn’t dare put down a trend because I believe fashion is like music in a lot of ways. It’s a very personal thing.  You wear what makes you happy just as you would listen to music that makes you feel good. However, there are some things that I don’t really like to wear simply because I’m not comfortable in them. For example, tight bandage dresses aren’t really my style. I like to dance A LOT and skintight dresses make it difficult to really get down and show off my moves, (which in my mind are reminiscent of Beyonce, but in reality I just look like Elaine Bennett from Seinfeld).

What are your top three tips for looking “put together” in a hurry?

First, have a go-to outfit for when you’re running late. For me, it’s skinny jeans, a t-shirt, heels and a blazer or a leather jacket.  Secondly, if you’re like me and suffer from a bad case of the bed-head, pull your hair back in a ponytail or a low-bun.  Lastly, keep your makeup simple. When I’m running late I throw on some tinted moisturizer, fill in my eyebrows, put on some mascara and do a quick swipe of lipstick.

What is in your purse?

My iPhone of course! I need it to keep up with social media throughout the day. I also have my business cards on me at all times.  Altoids are another necessity because bad breath is never in-style.  I also keep a little bag in my purse filled with lipsticks, Burt’s Bees lip balm, a small stick of concealer and a travel fragrances. I’m in love with Jo Malone London scents right now! I mix Nectarine Blossom & Honey with Basil & Neroli. Keeping things in little bags makes it easier when you’re switching your purses. Oh… and my wallet. Duh!

What is your favorite social platform and why?

My favorite social platform is definitely Instagram (@thenomisniche). I like to show my outfit of the day as well as other fashion/ beauty favorites and scenery shots.  It’s a great way to share your outfits, but it’s also a wonderful source of inspiration. I’m always sifting through other bloggers’ feeds and admiring what they post.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?

Acting like a tourist is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve been living in Las Vegas for about six years now, and it never gets old! Hyde at Bellagio offers a great view of the Bellagio fountains and we love taking visitors to the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan. It’s also fun to people watch on Fremont Street. If we have a date night we like to try a restaurant that we’ve never eaten at before and then hit the blackjack table.  If we stay close to home (we don’t all live in casino hotels – ha!) we usually invite friends over for some wine and good conversation. Those nights typically end in a living room dance party.

Where do you hope fashion & beauty blogging will take you in the future?

I hope to continue to grow. I want to create content that people look forward to and for The Nomis Niche to be a place where girls and women can go to for outfit inspiration and beauty tips. Also, I’ve been styling my friends for awhile now – helping them shop for outfits for a special event or a vacation and going through their closet to help put together outfits with clothes they already have. I hope to start a personal styling business to help more women look and feel their best no matter their size or age.
