Chat with Missy Damon-Moore

Our next chat comes from sunny Florida where we had the opportunity to ask Missy Damon-Moore a few questions.  We got to learn about her goals, where she gets inspiration and her favorite tools of the trade.  Missy’s blog,, is a must read in our books and she’s a great follow on Twitter (@PopofStyle) and Instagram (@popofstyle)

How’d you get into fashion blogging?

5 years ago I started a budget blog to challenge myself to create new looks that I found in magazines for cheaper and I fell in love with blogging!

How have you developed your style?

Well three years ago we move down to Florida so I guess my style has evolved a lot because we no longer have a change of the seasons! It’s been difficult for me getting used to not layering as much. Also, I started the blog when I was 25 years old and so now that I’m a professional woman who has a full-time job my style has changed a lot!

Do you prefer designer, vintage or highstreet?

I prefer anything that catches my eye I really don’t think it has much to do with the designer look as long as you could make it look expensive enter to your own taste. Although, I can’t lie I have some designers that are my favorites for investment pieces like bags, shoes, and jackets.

Who/what is your greatest source of inspiration?

I try to find inspiration everything around me I really enjoy Pinterest, going around stores just to see what’s in style and putting my own flair on it.

How do you stay current with what’s new or in style at the moment?

I love relaxing with fashion magazines I really like people style watch & InStyle. You’re also if you bloggers that I follow and of course Pinterest to get Inspiration like color palettes that pique my interest.

What are the trends that you are currently coveting?

Do you think you’ll love them next year? Right now, I’m loving suede over the knee boots, leather jackets, Bell sleeves, lace up tops and sweaters, and I’ve developed a little thing for menswear-inspired flats– I love the tassels! Translate weather and menswear are ones that I believe will stand the test of time however trends are trends-they could come and go but staple pieces last forever.

Who is your favorite brand/designer?

Do you own any of their designs? I’m obsessed with my all saints leather jacket, a gift for my recent birthday. Also, anything Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade hold a soft spot in my heart– I own several of their bags…never can get enough!

What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?

Oh, wow–tons! I’d say for photography: Lightroom, canva, pic monkey. Phone apps: VSCO, Snapseed, Camera360. My site is hosted through WordPress and I love RewardStyle & ShopStyle Collective.

If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated fashion blogger, what would they be?

Keep your head up, remember why you started and stay true to who you are–your voice & style.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? 10 years?

Continuing to expand my site to include the changes in my life–focusing more on lifestyle including home decor, food & drink, and a new makeup section. Who knows where the wind will blow; right now I’m a teacher but I’m open to new challenges all the time!
