When did you launch Classtige and what made you decide to get into fashion blogging?

I launched Classtige in July 2016. When I graduated from college, my dream was to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. It didn’t work out at the time, and I ended up in Tech sales. I’ve always been interested in beauty and fashion, so I started following bloggers on Instagram. I was amazed at the content they were creating and how they were using their blogs as a platform to report on different topics relating to fashion and beauty. When I came to this realization, I decided to start a blog of my own. The name Classtige actually comes from “class” and “prestige”, because that’s how I’ve always described my fashion sense.

What inspires your style?

I’m inspired by a combination of past and present icons. I love Kim Kardashian’s style. To me, she pushes the envelope in fashion and I like how she has continues to be a trendsetter as I consider myself one as well. Princess Diana has always been a role model to me. She came up with many trends on her own, in fact, Dior named the Lady Dior handbag after her needless to say she is my hero. Jackie O is another icon that I’ve idolized for years. She has a classy and powerful persona that I admire.

How do you stay current with what’s new or in style at the moment?

I live on Instagram. I’m constantly seeing what big and small bloggers are wearing as well as celebrities and TV personalities. Attending NYFW was also a great way to stay up to date as many trends for upcoming seasons start there.

What are some of the latest fashion trends you love?

I’m loving the bell sleeves. It’s so 70’s, and I love that it’s in style. Bell bottoms are also making a comeback, and I was always a sucker for bell bottoms while in middle school.

What are some the latest fashion trends you can NOT stand?

I can’t stand wearable technology. Maybe it’s because I’ve been around it so much having worked in Tech. Fashion and tech don’t mix, in my opinion. Let’s take the Apple Watch as an example. It works the same way as a phone, but is a much smaller version of it that fits on your wrist. Some people may consider that fashion, but at the end of the day you’re just wearing your phone on your hand. Fitbits and fitness trackers also fall into this category. They have become so popular that many people don’t even wear them to track their health, it’s for show. Come on, people.

Who is your favorite brand/designer?  Do you own any of their designs?

Chanel. It’s timeless, classy, and elegant. Vintage Chanel handbags will never go out of style. I own several handbags, a brooch, and sunglasses.

What outfit have you worn that most represents your fashion style?

I’m wearing a cape, sweater, jeans, and leopard print booties. I would say that represents my personal fashion style, because I love leopard print and I always keep my look chic and classy. Oh, and a swipe of pink lipstick. Lipstick is a staple for any of my looks.

What’s your favorite fashion era from the 21st century?

I love where we are right now, because we are in a completely unprecedented time period. Today, everyone is so busy with their packed schedules that there is no time to change out of work clothes into something fun for happy hour. Working moms that head to yoga over the weekends often stay in their yoga clothes all day, hence the birth of the term “athleisure.” Transitional pieces are much more desirable. Many companies have loosened their policies on dress codes as well, giving individuals much more room to be creative with their wardrobe.

What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?

I use RewardStyle for tracking the hits I get on my Instagram posts. It’s a great tool, because it provides webinars, tips, and advice for bloggers to grow their businesses. Google Drive is my saving grace. I track all my collaborations, contacts, and goals in this spreadsheet to ensure I’m staying organized. I don’t use a physical planner, I keep everything in my Google Calendar on my iPhone. After being in Tech for so long, I really don’t write anything down in notebooks, I just use Post-Its for simple reminders and keep everything in my Google Calendar.

Where do you hope fashion blogging will take you in the future?

My goal is to continue to grow my audience and offer them something more than just content. If I could write a book, create an app, or even start a clothing line I think that will push my brand even further and grow my fan base even more. I love being a fashion blogger, and want to continue this journey to see where it takes me.
