From capes to vests to jackets and coats, many of the recent runway shows have been working in one noticeable piece: outerwear.
Marc by Marc Jacobs recently held a show during New York Fashion Week at the Park Avenue Armory presenting his Fall Ready to Wear collection. In an interview, Jacobs stated that his inspiration for this collection came from a documentary called “Hip Hop Evolution”. Almost all of the looks for this show included an outerwear piece. Pictured below is one of the looks.
Anna Sui’s Ready to Wear collection for fall 2017 was also premiered during this month’s New York Fashion Week. In her collection, unique outerwear played a major part. Her collection featured deep blue, red, and green colors. Many of the looks had textured vests and jackets used as statement pieces.
Thom Browne’s Ready to Wear collection for Fall 2017 was shown this month as well. His line was made up of all black and gray tones, but many of his looks included outerwear that is structured, yet unique. This show was dark and winter themed, but included many unique designs.
For fall 2017 it looks like the trend for outerwear is not going to be the usual neutral toned coats, but deeply colored and textured eye catching looks.
