When did your interest in fashion and beauty begin?

I’ve always loved fashion and beauty. As a little girl, I would play dress up all of the time and dream of being a reporter. I knew that one day I would be writing about fashion.

How’d you get into fashion blogging?

My first year out of college, I had the opportunity to write for an online fashion magazine based in New York. I was invited to help them cover NYFW. While in the city, I wanted to document the parties, back stage action and sitting front row at some of the shows. My best friend convinced me to start a blog. I would journal my trip and add in candid photos and photos I had taken at shows and backstage. I loved it. There wasn’t money in blogging back then but I loved to sit down at the end of the day and document my experience. Since then I have attended NYFW over ten seasons and have changed my blog name (and done several facelifts to it). Now I have a fashion and lifestyle blog that you can shop from. It’s changed but I love the direction it’s going.

How would you describe your personal style?

I am edgy. I would say almost a tomboy chic. I love a good leather jacket and cool sneakers.

How do you stay current with what’s new or in style at the moment?

I am constantly on social media. I also live for the September issue of Vogue. I am always seeing what hit the runway whether it’s from the show personally or because I have seen it online. I am also a personal stylist, so being ahead of trends is always important.

Who is your fashion icon?

Joanna Hillman. She is the Style Director at Harper’s Bazaar. I find everything about her so cool. From her signature red lipstick to those sunglasses she always wears, I am constantly inspired by her personal style. Oh, and she has my dream job!

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, what 5 things would you go and buy straight away?

An IRO leather jacket, a pair of Golden Goose sneakers, a designer handbag (currently all about Gucci’s line), a pair of Re/Done denim and Saint Laurent booties (yes, I would have two shoe options)

What’s your favorite fashionable movie?

This one is tricky for me since I’m more of an eighties movie lover. I mean of course the obvious answers are Sex in the City or the Devil Wears Prada but while I am inspired by the clothing, they just don’t do it for me. I also adore the fashion in the older movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Move Over, Darling. But for favorite movie, I have to go with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

What are some of the latest fashion trends you love?

I am digging all of the velvet. I also love the ruffle and bell sleeves.

What are some the latest fashion trends you can NOT stand?

I don’t have one at the moment. However, I was not a fan of high rise denim at first when it came back in a while ago and now I love it. So, funny how your mind can change by being inspired.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

You’ll never work harder than when you’re working for yourself. When you start your own business, you have to have that drive and fire within. You have to want it and believe in yourself or you won’t make it. You really have to hustle in order to become successful.
