Back to London! We visited with Alex Light of What Alex Wears. After running her way through the fashion industry in Madrid she started at HELLO and is now the Editor at HELLO! Fashion! Take a read below to learn more about her job, blog and how she sees future. Don’t forget to check her site and Insta out too!
When did your interest in fashion and beauty begin?
My parents had a fashion business so I’ve literally grown up surrounded by fashion! Beauty came later but I’m now totally obsessed – I love writing about beauty.
How were you able to land a job with HELLO! Magazine. That sounds like a dream job!
It was a good dose of luck! I was in the right place at the right time – Madrid, and Hola, HELLO!’s parent company, were hiring. The rest is history!
It must have been amazing living and working in Madrid. What do you miss most about Madrid?
Madrid was amazing. I miss the easy, laidback lifestyle. London is so hectic and busy in comparison!
How would you describe your personal style?
Fairly minimal – you’re not likely to catch me in a print! I really love casual outfits – it’s easy to put a fancy outfit together but much harder to get it right when it comes to dressing down so I like that challenge.
Where do you find inspiration for your posts?
Instagram is obviously a great source of inspiration, as is Tumblr. I love looking at other bloggers!
What camera do you use, and what do you use to edit your photos?
I have a Canon 5D and I use Photoshop to edit my photos.
What are the trends that you are currently coveting? Do you think you’ll love them next year?
I love puffer jackets at the moment – I’m so happy they’re back in style! I have always loved a good puffer jacket so I don’t think I’ll be throwing mine out for a while!
Who is your fashion icon?
The Olsen twins. Hands down. I’ll never tire of seeing pics of them.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated fashion blogger, what would they be?
Persist. It’s so hard to get disheartened and just give up but you have to persist to see results… If you put in the hard work and really dedicate yourself, it will happen!
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? 10 years?
Hopefully still doing what I’m doing – I love blogging!
