Minimal, Comfortable and Relatable – A Chat with Robyn Taylor

From the heart of the UK comes Robyn Taylor!  Robyn is an incredible 22-year old who has turned her love of fashion and make-up into an awesome blog and social media presence!  We were lucky enough to hear about she developed her style and some of the things she can’t live without.  Take a read and be sure to stop by her site and follow her on Insta!

When did you launch Phases of Robyn and what made you decide to get into fashion blogging?

Phases Of Robyn started in April 2015 and it was originally a project to write about fashion and bargains that I’d found online. I’ve always loved finding good quality clothes but without the huge price tag, and eventually I got into buying clothes and sharing them on my blog. It just went from there!

How would you describe your personal style?

Very minimal, comfortable and relatable. I like to share outfits that I think anyone can recreate, but without the huge price tag. I’m all about comfort and anything too complicated probably won’t appear on my blog. I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl at heart!

Do you prefer designer, vintage or highstreet?

Definitely high street, but I think it’s nice to have one or two designer items. I have one designer bag which I ADORE and I love pairing it with all high street items.

What is your favorite outfit that you’ve worn, and why?

I once wore an outfit on my blog which was embroidery heaven! I wore an embroidered skirt, shoes and bag along with a leather jacket and I absolutely loved it! Some may have thought it was a little wacky, but I was obsessed with the detail.

How have you developed your style over time?

I’ve become a lot more daring with items that I buy. I still stick to a minimal vibe, but I add different textures and colours now instead of just opting for black. I never used to like bright colours but now I love having a pop of colour in a black & white outfit!

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, what 5 things would you go and buy straight away?

Firstly a good pair of jeans and a leather jacket – they’re such wardrobe staples and they’re the sort of items that’ll never go out of fashion. I’d buy one really nice party dress, but it’d be something I could also wear with tights and boots in the Winter (I love re-wearing items at different times of year!). Lastly I’d find myself a brightly coloured jumper, maybe like a red or royal blue one, and obviously a pair of pointed toe ankle boots!

What is your favorite social platform and why?

Always Instagram! I’m quite a visual person and I love scrolling through endless photos finding inspiration and reading other people’s daily stories. It takes so little effort to browse on Instagram!

What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?

I’m a total App freak so I use loads of them for photo editing and writing notes. VSCO, Whitagram and Facetune are my most used when it comes to editing as I love creating a bright image – the whiten tool on Facetune is great for that! I also use the Notes app on my iPhone all the time for jotting down blog ideas – sometimes they hit me at the randomest times and if I didn’t write them down I’d totally forget!

What’s a place you wish to visit?

One day I’d love to go to America and walk around New York City! I’m a huge Gossip Girl fan so Brooklyn Bridge is high on my travel list one day!

What are your goals for Phases of Robyn in 2017?

I always take each day as it comes with my blog, and my main goal for this year is to keep producing as much content as I can and to try and grow my readership. It’s not really about the numbers to me – as long as I’m enjoying what I’m doing that’s all that matters to me!
