Best Apps to Sell Used Clothing of 2017

It may only be Winter, but Spring will be here before you know it, and everyone knows what that means: dreaded Spring cleaning. And let’s be honest, your closet really needs it. You only wore that Calvin Klein dress once, and it’s nearly in perfect condition, so why not make some money off it? Luckily, there are many great apps and websites to sell your used clothing and accessories. Here are some you may want to try in 2017:

What is better than an app to sell clothes? A social media app to sell clothes! Poshmark is an app (it is also a website, www.poshmark.com) that allows you to post your old clothing and accessories. You can also gain followers, and share/retweet other clothing you like to your followers. There is also a like button, so you can go back and buy an item you liked later. Poshmark also has “Posh Parties”, where there are themes such as “Wardrobe Goals”, “Men’s Fashion”, or “Best of Bags”. You can share your items that fit the theme to the parties so your items sell faster. Poshmark takes a small fee out of each item you sell, and there is a $5.95 shipping fee for all buyers. This is my favorite app to sell my clothing on, I have used it for over 6 months and made about $600

Mercari lets you sell more than clothes and accessories-you can sell video games, China plates, old phones-basically anything. Your account doesn’t have followers, but you have more of a choice of how you want to ship your item. You can choose what company you want to ship it through (USPS, UPS, Fed Ex, etc.) and if you want Mercari to print a label for you (minimum is $4) or if you will ship the item yourself. You can also choose whether you will pay the shipping costs, or your buyer will. You basically have the freedom to ship how you choose. There is a comments section and you can message your seller or buyer in a private chat. Mercari also takes a 10% seller fee out of your profit for their company. The customer service for Mercari is great, helpful, and super quick.

A girl can never have too many bags-or can she? The great part about rebagg.com is that you do not have to wait for someone to buy you bag, the people of Rebagg give you and offer upfront. It is as simple as taking pictures of the bag you want to ship, getting an offer from the company, and shipping your bag. You will get your pay via check or bank transfer in 2-3 business days. Here are a list of brands Rebagg accepts:

The Depop shop:a store that is open 24/7! Many people describe this app and website as “Instagram meets ebay.” You can sell almost anything, but clothes are the most popular item to sell, including vintage clothing. The price is a set price and you can message your buyer/seller through a private message board. Like Mercari, depop has a 10% seller fee.

Tradesy is like Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop-just a little more high end and expensive. If your item is purchased, Tradesy will send you a high end shipping kit. They have a great customer service team which can be reached by phone or email. Top selling items are designers such as Lululemon, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel.

  1. Ariane… I truly appreciate your article! I’ve been searching for just the right app to download and you have given me a wonderful choice of apps! It’s been warming up in my area (near Pittsburgh PA) and I have the spring cleaning bug. Lol! At least this way I can make a few dollars and maybe put in a vacation fund or something like that now.
