We were very lucky to be joined by Melinda Fleming!  In addition to being a voiceover artist Melinda runs the site curatedcool.com.  Travelling the world and finding unique and fantastic fashion from all over the world is her expertise!  Take a read below and make sure to follow her on Instagram!

When did you begin your blog and what made you decide to start one?

I stared my blog mid 2013, and it originally started out as a place to find really cool décor and accessories. 2014 I started to do fashion, which was a game changer. I started the blog, as I wanted a place where I could have creative control over things I believe in and a passionate about.

Have you always had a passion for style and fashion?

Always. I had always been complemented on my taste and style, and how I could assemble an outfit, or the way I would arrange décor pieces. My friends would always notice and say. “Where did you get that?” That was my “Aha moment” for sure.

Who was key to influencing you to get into Fashion?

No one really, It just happened organically. I come from the entertainment industry, where I was always in front of a camera, or performing, writing, creating content, and it felt like a natural transition. It was the “Aha” moment that cemented the idea and I ran with it.

Where do you find inspiration for your posts?

My inspiration comes truly from within. I dress for myself, and I channel locations, time periods or even personalities to how I dress. If I’m feeling tomboyish, I’ll dress a little grungy with a twist. If I’m feeling Parisian, I dress more feminine with my touch added to it. I also love pinterest and foreign magazines. I also answer questions that I want answered.

How many looks do you shoot in a single day?

Usually I will shoot 5 looks (a weeks worth of content), but have been known to do 10 looks, which is exhausting.

What is the one essential item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?

My black leather jacket, It’s so versatile; you can dress it up or down, formal or informal. It’s just a fantastic staple.

Favorite pair of shoes/boots?

Right now I would have to say my pony haired Manolo Blahnik pumps. The design is very slight so they blend with everything, and the main color is beige which is classic.

Which style magazines do you read if any?

I look at magazines for inspiration. Vogue, Nylon, Darling magazine, and a lot of travel magazines. I cut out what I like and create mood boards.

If you had to start your wardrobe from scratch, what 5 things would you go and buy straight away?

A pair of black pumps, a navy blazer, a structured designer bag, a classic white tee, and skinny jeans.

What are your goals for Curated Cool in 2017?

To build it into the digital ‘zine for creative inspiration. You wont come just for fashion or travel. There will be art, designer Q&A’s and more inspirational content for you to hang out for a while.
